S2 really likes CMC and is applying. He also loves jazz drumming and is a member of one of the nation's best HS jazz bands and would like to keep playing. Are there any jazz courses/programs available either at CMC or through the consortium colleges, or are there ensembles he could join? Thanks.

Son plays in the jazz band at Pomona which is open to all the 5C’s[Bobby Bradford - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Bobby Bradford - Wikipedia) leads the band. Bradford also teaches a History of Jazz class at Pomona which is difficult to get in to. There is also Harvey Mudd Colleges Music 84 Jazz Improvisation course that is taught by Robert Keller, see the following, [All That Jazz](http://www.hmc.edu/specialinterestfeatures/innovators/keller.html). My son, a Pomona student, also gets lessons though their Music department not sure what lesson situation at CMC is. I believe they have a joint program with Scripps. I wish your son good luck.

Very informative and helpful. Thank you.

I took Keller’s class for four terms. There is quite a spread in terms of ability in the class. However, I’d consider myself an intermediate/advanced jazz player (vibraphone, percussion) and I was learning up until the end.

Also, Mus84 has a set of new Adams AV1 professional vibes just waiting to be played. The school actually bought them for me to play on for Mus84 and now that I’ve graduated they need a new player…
