Many schools only focus on ballet and modern. My daughter is looking for all three. Please help with a list of dance schools. Point park, u of buffalo, u of arizona, western mi, Chapman, hope college, alma college, muhlenburg? And??? Thanks. Any thoughts on the schools would be helpful too. Thanks
Do you mean in performance choreography, classes or both? James Madison U’s performance choreography is primarily modern/ contemporary, but the course work covers all areas, and ocassionally there are also performance pieces that are more ballet or jazz based.
Looking for colleges with equal focus on all 3 areas. Thus, a modern and ballet focused school would not be what she is looking for. I understand some schools do have jazz classes, but not in equal parity to ballet and modern.
University of Arizona’s BFA dance program focuses equally on ballet, modern and jazz and also has a bit of tap so it’s very well-rounded… that’s the only one I know a lot about on your list… but maybe check out Pace commercial dance?
Dean College Franklin MA does all dance.
Temple U
Look into Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles. My daughter takes ballet, jazz, and modern every semester. The department chair is modern leaning but they are adding a guest artist program to help keep the balance with jazz, hip hop and other genres.
