<p>I'm a senior in high school this year planning on applying to St Olaf as a music major, and I was just wondering how the good the jazz program really is. I'm not looking at a career in jazz, but the opportunity to play in a great jazz ensemble and to be an adequately trained jazz musician is important to me.</p>
<p>As a current student, I'd say our three jazz bands are pretty good. What instrument do you play? In my opinion, the trumpet, percussion, and saxophone profs here can give you great instruction in jazz, but the trombone prof would probably not be as strong in that area.</p>
