Jcamp 2016

@gdpast323 ohh i’m currently a junior :slight_smile:

@gdpast323 I made an intro video and I personally thought I was pretty qualified due to the amount of leadership and involvement I have with broadcasting and journalism…who knows :confused: I really emphasized that mass communications was what I truly wanted to pursue in college…but like you said, there’s prob more qualified students :frowning:

@yourguardian oh I see. I think you have a really good chance though! I hope you get in!

I got accepted! The email was sent two days ago, but I hadn’t checked until today. I’m a junior, and I didn’t make a video.

@IvysaurusRex congrats!!! would you mind sharing what your journalism experience is?

@IvysaurusRex Yay! Guess I’ll see you in August!! :slight_smile:

Who did you guys write about in your essay? The dream interview one, I mean.

@gdpast323 No problem! I’m the current editor in chief and Twitter admin. I’m also the editor of my school’s literary magazine (not sure if you’d consider that journalism experience). As a sophomore, I was the sports editor. I also went to a journalism program last summer where I had the opportunity to intern at a local newspaper.

@katykate Definitely! :slight_smile:

I wrote about William Randolph Hearst, and I kinda went about it in a different route. We were just learning about him in my history class, and, although famous, he wasn’t really an ethical journalist. My essay was about how I wanted to grill him and figure out how a journalist could use his/her abilities for something that wasn’t the public good.

@IvysaurusRex nice one! I didn’t even think of him! I wrote about Zora Neale Hurston, because I thought that her career choices - anthropology specifically - were fascinating since she was a black woman at a time when careers were limited for her. I wanted to ask her random things, like if she would love Antigone as much as I did and why the Harlem Renaissance was so essential and why, in her pictures, her hat is always jauntily tilted. Just little questions I thought of.

@IvysaurusRex Wow you have so many accomplishments D:

My biggest ones are that I’m the co-founder of an International High School Magazine and I’m the editor of several out of school newspapers/magazines. In school, I’ve been the News Editor since freshman year. Besides journalism, I personally thought I had a lot of leadership as I am an active board member and founder of several clubs.

But I’m assuming I got rejected because I didn’t recieve an email from JCamp yet. Agh. I just want to get an email, even if it’s a rejection letter.

Would anyone be willing to copy and paste their acceptance letter?
