Do you get your JD in a specific "major" or do you just get the JD?

I am wondering because i want to be an entertainment agent which is a job where you would go into after having a JD or MBA or both...and i was wondering would i have to specialize in entertainment thus restricting me to only that or would i be able to use the JD for other law aspects just incase the entertainment does not work out?

The JD degree does not carry any major subject in any law school. For that, you have to take graduate degrees in law bwyond the baisc law school. However, if you are interested in entertainment law, try to go to a school that gives at least several courses in the subject, which you can take as electives.

It's silly to go to law school if you don't want to be an attorney. If you are uninterested in law, you will not only have a miserable 3 years, you're unlikely to end up with the kind of record you need to get a good job. To do it with no work experience, it's almost essential to get a combined JD/MBA.

I know of two young entertainment agents--one the son of a college classmate; the other a friend of my kid's. Neither has a MBA or a JD.
