Jefferson scholars

Just found out that I didn’t make it to the next round (I already knew that my SAT scores and transcript weren’t competitive enough). Oh well, my dream is NYC not Charlottesville (hints the name). Good luck to everyone else!

found out last night that i am our regions finalist…does anyone know the specific dates of the weekend in March? I have to cancel a school trip. i guess the school will send the info, but in case anyone heard of the actual dates, i’d appreciate the info. thanks!

Congratulations AmayaB! What region are you from?

Congrats amayab! That also means you are accepted to UVa since the accept all finalists. The selection weekend has been set for late March, and they will notify you by March 30.–Here’s a site you might like: [Jefferson Scholars Foundation | Selection Process](http://www.jeffersonscholars.org/undergraduate_program/selection-process/)
Do you have any advice for us that still have interview next weekend? Also has anyone had the reception yet? What was it like? (My reception is Thursday, and the interview is early Saturday morning)

While being selected as a finalist is certainly a significant achievement, I believe Dean J and others have made it very clear that the Jefferson Scholar selection process is completely independent of the admissions process.

They are independant, but if you look at past finalist weekends and even if you ask UVA, if you make it to the finalists selection weekend, they admit you. end of story. It doesn’t guarantee the full ride, but it guarantees that you are a wahoo

^^ I hate that when I type, my ability to spell decreases by 1000%

Hey guys,

I had my interview LAST Saturday and they still haven’t notified me on whether I’ve made it to the second round which is next Saturday. They said they’d notify me by the end of the week, but that has past…so what should I do?

met2283-- Are you from the St. Louis region?? I have the same problem…I say we wait it out until about 5 tonight and then reevaluate?

SMR2012, yeah! I’m kinda freakin out. Ok so I didnt miss a call or anything? Phew…

I guess they are just taking a while…

I guess we should just keep waiting. I’m very tempted to email them or something but I don’t want to annoy them haha

I agree. Well good luck to you! Hopefully we’ll both find out within a few days.

I was interviewed in the Philadelphia area last week and have yet to hear back.

Interviewed on January 7th and haven’t heard anything… I suppose no news is good news!

I was interviewed by the Philadelphia region panel last week as well. I’ve read things that said they get back to you in about a week. Maybe it’s taking them some more time because they had a lot of nominees this year? I haven’t heard anything yet either, but I’m crossing my fingers for some good news! Good luck to everyone :)

I had my reception tonight. It was really nice, and definitely a networking thing and get to know the interviewers. Some of the people I talked to even knew the detailed aspects of my application which was interesting. I learned a lot just from the people; so so so interesting.

Did any of you email UVa and tell them you were Jefferson Scholar Nominees? Should I do this???

Had my interview this morning. They were going to talk about my application, but we enjoyed our conversations so much about global events, which is connected to stuuf I do now and what I want to do, that we never got to it. As it is, it went over time despite the head guy kept coming in trying to stop it so he could stay on schedule. I’m supposed to hear this weekend. Crossed fingers

I still haven’t heard back from them, and they said they’d call everybody by the end of the weekend on whether if they made it to the second round or if they were cut. They did say, however, that when they know the 2 finalists that they would send those names to UVa and would take about 10-14 days before notification. I’m scared, but my mom and counselor think this is a good thing.

Hi fellow Jefferson nominees. I’m in the London (England) region - I think we’re all very lucky in this region since they seem to have interviewed everyone who applied - at least, my email about the interview only congratulated me for being nominated from my school, not for getting through to the regional interviews. I went at 10.30am, I assume being one of the first ones, and the last was at 5 or 6pm, and interviews were meant to take 30-45 mins (mine was more like an hour)…so I’m guessing there were about 6 or 7 people to interview.

It’s now the day after my interview and I’m getting anxious to get an email, whether it be a yes or a no. Not enjoying the suspense! Do you guys know if UVA or the foundation sets a day for the regional committees to tell everyone, or is it up to the committees?
