<p>Hey Guys!
In response to a couple questions above, all nominees will hear on February 1st their status in the competition regardless of region.</p>
<p>And on an individual note, my interview last weekend seemed ok, but like some others have said, I honestly don’t know how I did. There were 16 people being interviewed, and everyone seemed very well qualified so we’ll see…I’m not sure what region I’m in (the interview was in Chattanooga) but they are doing make up interviews this coming weekend so I’m supposed to hear by next Monday. My interviewers were all super nice, and there were a lot of general questions (explain this from your resume, what is this on your transcript, etc.) plus a few fairly standard interview questions (the dinner party question, asking about travel, leadership opportunities, importance of community service, etc.). I was a little stumped on a question they asked about international politics, but overall it went ok. I wish everyone the best of luck, and hopefully we’ll get to meet in Charlottesville!

<p>My daughter made it as far as the Jefferson Scholarship Weekend last year. She enjoyed meeting the professors but was very disappointed in some of the current Scholars that she met. All the interviewees were invited to a party at UVA during the Scholarship Weekend by some of the current Scholars. My daughter arrived at the party to find most of the Scholars very drunk and beer and liquor was offered and served to the high school seniors invited there to interview for the weekend. Some of the seniors were 17 years old. Some of the scholars also told the seniors about their “sexcapades” during their interview weekend. My daughter left with several other interviees shortly after they arrived. We are not naive about what goes on on college campuses, but one would think that the current Jefferson Scholars would not be putting on that kind show for the next group of scholars. It flies in the face of all the Jeffersonian Scholars “ideals”. The experience really soured her on UVA.</p>
<p>For those of you who make it to the Scholar weekend, everyone receives an acceptance to the university during the weekend whether or not you are chosen for the Jefferson scholarship. You will also receive a small scholarship if you choose to attend UVA. My daughter is very happy at Princeton with a grant that is just about the equivalent of the Jefferson Scholarship.</p>
<p>I’m from the Tidewater Region of Virginia, and I was told I’d get an e-mail before noon telling me if I’d advanced to the second round…and I got the e-mail at 5:30 instead. Up and down and back up, emotional roller coaster. Hahaha. Best of luck to everyone else!
