Jeopardy of losing acceptance?

Hey guys. As bad as this sounds, there is a possibility that I may end with a D in AP Physics C for first semester. The thing is, I never got a D in my life... and the reason why this may happen is because I didn't take a background Physics class junior year like everyone else did. I just jumped straight into the hardest Physics class and that was a big mistake... If I do get accepted by UIUC and the worst case scenario happens where I do end with a D, will they take away my acceptance? Also, if I do end with a D, should I let the admissions know right away? Hopefully I won't end with a D though...

They can take away your acceptance, as in they have the ability and right to do so. However, they really don’t like doing so, especially for an isolated bad grade (don’t get arrested or suspended or anything like that). They do rescind offers, but only in extreme cases, and students are always given a chance to explain themselves.

You are lucky that this is happening 1st semester, and you have time to hedge with alternative options. Here is my non-professional advice…

go to the Illinois admission site and search for “rescind”; read everything; relax

-apply to safety schools, financial and academic, in case Illinois doesn’t work out (should be doing this anyway).

-once you are accepted to Illinois, then update them on your situation, not beforehand, and see what they say

-if they don’t rescind you, you are set to attend

-if they do rescind you, you have less selective affordable alternatives and you will be fine (really, you will)

Good luck

I’m attending UofI right now and I got a D in AP calc my senior year. You should let them know if you get a D, but as long as you have good grades in all your other classes, you’ll be alright.
