Jerome Fisher ED?

It says on the Jerome Fisher site that most students are deferred when they apply ED to the dual-degree program. I’m assuming that they defer everyone except for the people with incredible applications, but does anyone have statistics on this at all?

Also, if I get deferred for Jerome Fisher, does that take me out of the pool for ED? I’m applying to Engineering if I don’t get in to Jerome Fisher, so can I get accepted into Engineering in the ED round and deferred/rejected from Jerome Fisher at the same time?

Someone asked an admissions officer this at a Penn meeting I went to, and she didn't know the answer. Send an e-mail to Penn admissions and they should be able to get you the right answer.

I found my answer on the Online Application:
"As an Early Decision candidate, we will first consider your application to the joint- or accelerated-degree program. If we are unable to admit you to the joint or accelerated program, and you would also like to be considered as an early decision candidate to your designated single-degree option, please select YES below. The offer of admission is binding. Please acknowledge that you have read this and agree to enroll at Penn under the early decision program, if admitted."

However, this does raise another question: since my essays will largely be centered around the Jerome Fisher program, if I indeed am rejected from the Jerome Fisher program, will this hurt my chances at Penn Engineering?

No..it shouldn't hurt. They are smart enough to figure it out!
