dobie, you would not want a supplemental contract; those they change the study rooms into a foursome shared room.

what if I didn’t get a supplemental contract?

What is dobie like?

The OP got a normal contract so he/she will get a normal dorm room. (Supplemental contracts put you in a study room.) I would recommend a room on campus rather than in Dobie.

You know, if your roommate has higher priority because he/she applied earlier, they will use your roommate’s priority to assign you your room.

Your room assignment is based on the date you applied for housing. It is not based on the date you received your contract.

i applied for housing march 7, but I just now recieved my contract. do you think i will get a spot in jester?

most likely your spot will be in jester.

What’s wrong with Jester again?

My daughter lived in Jester and really liked it. It is much better than it used to be, JCL is right downstairs and you can eat anywhere on campus.

The girl who led my son’s campus tour said she lived in Jester and also really liked it. I got the impression she really meant it!

My son has enjoyed Jester so much that he is returning there for his second year! It really is the hub of campus activity. It is close to PCL and Gregory, has computer labs, advising centers and multiple dining options in the building. The rooms are small, but most students only sleep there -they study and socialize outside of their rooms.

I like private dorms/ apartments better. cheaper and get a real room .

My plan is to just live in university housing for freshman year (probably in Jester), and then move into a private dorm or apartment for sophomore year and beyond. That seems like the best route.

hmm, looks like people are split on this subject.

Any more opinions?

I’m looking to stay at Dobie for the fall. IMO, it will hopefully be more quiet than the other dorms(I study better in my room), better amenities “overall,” and being close to the business school makes it very convenient for me. Jester may be better for socializing because of all the people there, but if I ever feel like partying, I’m just going to go run on over there :).

I’m probably getting Jester if I actually get a dorm for a transfer. I’m looking more into Dobie too…

so what should i do jester with private bath for $8600 or dobie suite for $9200?

You probably won’t be able to get a private on-campus room if you just applied for housing in March. Those are very limited. Dobie (and most West Campus housing) will not be much quieter than Jester.

oh i wouldnt get private bathroom your saying? Well then should i go for jester community bath or dobie?

my guess is that zlc was referring to a single room, not a double w/private bath.
