Oops! Thanks for the catch Vailsmom! However, he probably won’t get a double with private bath with that late date either. :-(

OK, I finally understand you guys. So it’s down to…

Dobie Suite- $9200 vs. Jester Community bathroom- $8200.

Is dobie worth a grand more?

I would prefer Jester over Dobie even if Jester cost a bit more. I just like the convenience of being on campus (and the Dining Dollars).

Also, if you are covering that extra $1000 with a loan, save the money -you’ll be very glad when repayment begins. Borrowing $1000 doesn’t seem like much, but repaying it sure does!

I’m not paying for it with a loan, but I’m definitely leaning toward jester thanks to yall.

This is going to be a tough call tho, and i need to decide asap!

any other opinions

I HATE TO BE ANNOYING BUT I REALLY NEED YALLS ADVICE!

(sorry for the all caps, but i needed to express my urgency)

Lol how can you jump to wanting a private bath to a community bath? You should check out Dobie’s efficiency(8,400) or studio(8800) plans. You have one bathroom that you share with your roommate. Dobie is very close to the business school so its not so far from the campus.

Dobie has run out (<is that the right way to say it?) of efficiency floorplans, but I will look into the studio.

But still it just comes down to dobie vs. on-campus, so far the votes are overwhelmingly for on-campus housing… Feel free to share

Dobie center told you they ran out? Thats very odd seeing how they never get full.

I would check out all the dorms before you make any decision. The private dorms are very close to the campus. It is basically on-campus.

Never mind, it was the private efficiency and studio that were sold out.

But I toured a dobie studio room and it did not seem that much better than Jester IMO, so why pay extra when I could be living on-campus in a comparable room?

Jester is known to smell bad and be relatively smaller in the size of the room you get. Jester has A LOT of people living there. I think they are in the top 5 largest dorms in the nation. Community bath means you will be sharing with the people in your hall. So you won’t have one right there in your room unlike Dobie. Dobie does have its negatives though.

I have yet to check out all the dorms, but I am also in the same position as you. I am leaning towards Dobie though just because its 1 minute away from the business school, housekeeping every week, cafeteria right down stairs, more freedom, and “hopefully” less noise.

Yeah, this is a very tough decision for me and I honestly have no idea how I’m going to decide.

What is the difference from private studio and regular studio?

^ It’s just you I believe, no roommate.

I lived in Dobie for a while. I didn’t like it. It is still pretty ghetto and not as nice as some of newer dorms on campus. It’s only marginally nicer than Jester. Pretty darn expensive as well. Horrible food. Horrible up and down transportation. It was pretty loud on my floor.

Okay navyarf, I’m doing on-campus housing

I’d probably do on-campus if I had the choice b/w Jester and Dobie. Jester is in the middle of everything with lots of stuff going on. :)

Navyarf, what are these “newer” dorms that your referring to?

hes probably talking about san jacinto and duren. You must apply for housing very early to get into these dorms
