If any of you people grew up my urban located school you'd be going to princeton for free. Only like half a dozen people in my entire class got anywhere near a 2000 on the Sats.

That seems kind of strange to me, IMO high SATs don't make you smart but they do mean you have skills, and smart/knowledgable people can generally do well on them.

well u must be an overachiever to some degree if u spend ur freetime on a college forum...

haha yeah for real ^^^

you know i got the second highest score on the SAT in a class of 320.... I got a freakin 1970... yeah... i know... sad

Not a bad score but it is kind of sad that that was the highest.

I know they are geniuses!

LMAO.
There's a senior at my school that got a 2390.
She has the 6th highest SAT score.
That's right: there were 5 2400's!!!
(Elite private, class of 150ish)

psh yea i got 4 2400's in my school, insane

i don't know if anyone in my school has taken an SAT... we always take the ACT. We do have some really smart kids. It is just that virtually all of my school goes to college in state. Maybe a few go out of state.

the average sat was suppose to be/ is currently a ~1600/2400 in the US...collegeconfidential does not at all represent the student population.

honestly....i believe many people can get 2300+ if they put enough time in....

it just depends on how much time you want to invest in the SAT

But yes, there are some people who can just take the test and get a 2300+

I find it hard to believe the people who say that not many people in their schools get over a 2000 on the SAT. A recent study by Columbia alumnus Professor B. Katz suggests that there are at least a dozen students in every major school that recieve a higher score then a 2200 on the SAT. Why do you think the top schools require the absolute top scores? Every school has its branch of "smart" kids who get straight A's. If all these kids went to top colleges there would not be any room. No, these people are not going to get into Princeton for free.

Joseph, you keep quoting stuff discouraging people. Firstly, you say at least a dozen in every major school. Colleges will accept people from schools that are not major as well. It's not the students fault if they're in an area where they don't have the same opportunities. Secondly, colleges care about things other than scores, such as extracurriculars, essays, personality, etc. It's obvious scores are not everything, as Harvard could fill their class with top scorers, but they don't. Thirdly, you're assuming that those that receive over 2200 get top grades. That is not necessarily how it works. There are many students with high scores and low grades and with low scores and high grades.
