Jewish and Near Eastern Studies Major/Entrepreneurial Minor

Hey guys. I'm a transfer student, transferring to WUSTL this fall. I am planning on majoring in the Jewish and Near Eastern Studies Major with an Entrepreneurial minor.

Does anyone know anything about either one? Do you have any friends in it? Are they happy or miserable? Also, I will be continuing to study Hebrew. Anyone on here taking Hebrew or know anyone taking Hebrew at WASH U? How difficult is the language program there?

ANY INFO WILL HELP!
thanks:)

I’ll admit I don’t know a ton about this, but I’ll give it what I’ve got.

For starters I don’t know anyone miserable at WashU because of chosen area of study (excluding students who made the decision for the wrong reasons ie family pressure). Language programs here are rigorous but not unreasonable. Almost all of them are really excellent as well- I can only speak emphatically about the Romance languages, though. Personally, I’ve maintained high grades in my language classes pretty easily as someone who only takes one class per semester. Granted, I had a great high school language experience. I do know people who aren’t dedicated to studying for a non-major subject area who struggle in the entry-level classes. While the classes are not easy, the professors in my experience are passionate and go above and beyond to support their students.

I imagine the Hebrew professors would be excellent, especially due to the strong Jewish community presence (and alumni influence) on campus. All language classes, especially lower level ones, are extremely immersive and you get a lot of opportunity for individual attention.

Thanks so much! :)
