jewish life @ unc

I've been accepted to grad school (phD program) at UNC but am concerned about jewish life both at UNC and CHapell Hill. That's an important factor to me and even though I know there's a new Hillel and all that I'm having trouble committing to 4 years in Chapel Hill. Any ideas would be helpful. I'm really stressed out.

contact the Hillel-house, they are really nice. I'm a student from Israel, I might attend UNC next semester, even though jewish life wasn't any of my concerns i was reffered to them by UNC, they were very helpful (not regarding jewish life in my case but they were really nice). not being from chapel hill i can't give my opinion of the jewish life in the area.

I've contacted Hillel and will probably visit them later on.Do you happen to know of any other discussion lists online where I can contact jewish students regarding choosing colleges?

hhmmm, sorry, this is the only site i know about college stuff...
i guess a google search would be a good way to start looking..

undecided- im jewish, and will most likely be attending unc next year (either that or northwestern) anyways, i live in raleigh, and my sister already goes to unc, so ive been to hillel numerous weekends... i dont know if i can help much but feel free to ask me any questions and i can try to answer them. generally, in my personal opinion, jewish life at unc isn't exactly up to par with what i would like (im orthodox). they don't have saturday morning services (maybe once a month). the typical friday night is going to services (there is reform, alternative, and conservative- but its a bare minimal conservative) and you can choose what service you want to go to, and then afterwards everyone meets in the lobby and they have shabbat dinner. and then afterwards most people go to the fraternity house and just hang out. anyways, the jewish population isnt that large sadly, but there is one at least. hope i helped
