We are the Chosen people and as a result we go threw so MANY hardships.

So, the people who aren't Jewish but who are going through many hardships aren't Chosen, they're just completely neglected by a higher entity, right?

MBP and Mike--No, I'm not particularly religious, but wouldn't categorize myself as non-believing. I'm not sure what I believe. ... Mike--We're still alive and thriving, absolutely, but this "chosen people" business is utterly ridiculous to me. And your #17 post made G-d sound petty, vengeful, and mean--at least to me. I simply can't believe in a G-d who would say: "You're special and I love you so much that so I'll torture and torment you from now until Kingdom come if you don't toe-the-line absolutely in the way I demand of you." That's why I've shrugged off the "teachings" of organized religion all these years. Any G-d I believed in wouldn't do such a thing.

Is it offensive to call Jewish people rich, mike?

I don't think so. It's simply an observation. I'm quite sure the average income & average net worth is significantly higher than virtually all of the major ethnic groups in the US.

Asians are at the top by far from a percentage basis, then it is Jewish people. Jewish culture is for the most part, more focused on education and less on superficiality that plagues most people in this country. Let's not forget that Jewish people also share this common bond and once you gain power, it is not hard to retain it.

I really have a lot of respect for Jewish culture and only disrespect the fact that it is very exclusive. My girlfriend's family is Jewish and to know that if I ever wanted to marry a Jew that I would have to at least temporarily "convert" is pretty ridiculous to me. Albeit, many religions are this way or even more conservative.

Be happy your gf's family is giving you a chance. Yes, it's extremely exclusive, but that can be a good thing and a bad thing. It's a good thing because it makes us feel special, even after going through so many hardships. It's bad because in most places, it's hard to find a good population of Jews. Most Jews live in Chicago, New York, and California. There are barely any Jews living in rural areas. I know many Jews that have been single for a long time and haven't found a Jew that they like.

I doubt that. I'd believe that maybe Chinese or Korean having higher income/net worth than Jews - but certainly not an all inclusive term like "Asians".

I'm a religious Jew and I wanted to provide another prospective on the question of why the Jews have gotten such a raw deal.

None of us know the reasoning behind what happens. As a religious Jew, I put my faith in G-d. I do this to the extent that I fully believe there is a reason behind EVERYTHING that happens, from getting a papercut to the Holocaust. This is sort of like what Mike89 said. However I don't feel every negative event is for a negative reason. There may very well be a POSITIVE reason behind a very negative event. Just because we as humans can't understand that reason, doesn't mean it does not exist.

An example of this was once given, sadly I don't remember where it is from. But it goes like this: Two villagers (Mr. A and Mr. B), who knew nothing of modern science and medicine were walking and one had a heart-attack. Both men promptly went to a hospital. Mr. A watched as his fellow underwent open-heart surgery. Even though the doctors were saving Mr. B's life, all Mr. A saw was blood, gore, and his friend being butchered. Just because Mr. A couldn't understand the higher meaning of the surgery, doesn't mean that higher purpose doesn't exist.

Jewish-Americans earn double the average income in the USA. They are ten times over-represented in congress and well-known for being in high-power positions on Wall Street--10% of NY State is Jewish, while only 2% of the US is Jewish.
