Jewish Studies Major at UCLA

I'm an incoming freshman at UCLA and as of now I'm a Jewish studies Major...I was wondering if anyone graduated with that major or is currently in that major.

I researched it and it said that I have to take a year of hebrew language...I wanted to know if the language classes are hard for someone who does not know anything in hebrew..like the Hebrew 102a-c classes.

Thanks in advance :)

Are you Jewish? Are you a guy or lady?

I’d warn you that JS classes are not at all about real Judaism–they’re merely interested in Judaism “as a culture.” You will be seriously misled in them.

Also, as you probably know already, the “hebrew” that is taught here is MH, not lashon kodesh. (unless a course specifically says otherwise.) And if it matters to you, they only use the sephardi pronunciation.

In other words, change your major!

Private Message me if you want to learn about Jewish life here. Official classes are not the way to learn Judaism here, but I can tell you how. (I’m a second year engineering major, becoming BT.)

so yeah, PM me.
