Not that I have any problems with Jews, but I was just wondering if this is a predominantly Jewish college. The only people that I know that have gone/are going here are Jewish, and I was wondering if this is true. I love the school, and currently it's one of my top choices. It's only my junior year, and I'm trying to gather as much information about everywhere that I'm thinking about as possible. Thanks!

Why does it matter whether or not it’s a predominantly Jewish college?

Honestly? I’ve been raised in an Ivy League bubble, and I know next to nothing about colleges besides Yale, Harvard, Stanford, and such. The little that I know about Tufts from students there has been that it is a geeky Jewish school. I love that, but I’m wondering if it’s true.

Nah, it’s not known for being Jewish. Calm down, children.

Mkay thanks :)

What Tufts doesn’t do is accept or reject people for being Jewish, geeky or otherwise. But, wait! The Ivy League bubble doesn’t do that anymore either! Neither does Brandeis. What year are we living in?

Yeah that’s kind of a strange question really. How would that affect your perspective of the school anyway?

^^^^^I can’t think of any legitimate reason for asking the above question and it makes you come off in a way that I hope you didn’t intend: bigoted and tactless, frankly.

I would guess that geek is in the eye of the beholder–to some, posting gauche things on the Internet might be perceived as geeky.

For whatever it is worth, I know kids, Jew and non-Jew, who are beautiful, compassionate, gracious, superhumanly-endowed, athletic, musical, artistic, creative, politcally-engaged, and funny, who will attend, who attend Tufts, and who attended Tufts. I would not say, among my sample, that it is a geeky group, by any means.

I don’t really know how to decode what you’re getting at with “geeky Jewish” since you could have easily accessed the percentage of Jews, at any college campus, via an internet search without the offensive question.

You’re going to find a much higher percentage of Jewish people (compared to the rest of the US at ~2%) at most upper-tier schools on the east coast (Jesuit schools aside). Tufts is not really unique in this regard.

Flygirl…What century is this? What country? Are you for real? You need to go to a school with great diversity or you’ll never suceed in this shrinking world.
