JHU $10 Essay HELP!

<p>lucky you... i still cant decide=(</p>

<p>i just wrote mine.. it kind of sucks but i suggest to just go wwith the flow!!!</p>

<p>don't do what I did which involved listening to a woman named Mrs. Geppert, who knows absolutely nothing about what she's talking about. the same woman who chucked my essay on cooking a meal for my parents and ended up writing a bland tasteless essay, and even annoying as I read it more, about a trip...to, of all places, Berkeley. </p>

<p>In this book I was reading, College Essays by Princeton REview or whatever, they went around asking those in charge of admissions what exactly they were looking for in essays. John Latting who's head honcho at admissions really wants the personalities to stand out. </p>

<p>But yes, go with the flow INDEED. Ask what Nguyent wrote about; you'll love it. You'll love her and that's probably the kind of essay they may want</p>

<p>Hey you know what... go find empty glass bottle... then go to a gas station and fill it up. With the rest of the money buy a lighter and some cloth... Here, you have a molotof bomb and a great way to start an adventure!!!</p>

<p>btw, I just had a great idea about the essay, in fact not an essay (hint! hint!)
and no, it doesn't have to do with burning =)</p>

<p>Dont say you'll buy drugs with it :(</p>

<p>U can go downtown and hand every bum u see one dollar</p>

<p>no drugs?! what are you talking about? I was thinking of making something with 10$ and send them the receipt</p>

<p>I wrot about going t the 99 cents store and buying things for my friends and saring the "wealth"</p>

<p>Ten dollars in today’s world can’t get many very far. A two hour film at the theaters (not including snacks), a combo at Carl’s JR, or even five gallons of gas if your lucky; however those ten dollars have much more value where I come from. Growing up in Los Angeles money has always been the dividing factor that has separated the ‘Hollywood class” with the rest of Los Angeles. The hope that one day defeating poverty has being the aspiration for many, mostly including African Americans and Hispanics. Ten dollars to me would not be spent in self-indulgence rather in sharing it where I can bring spirits to those who feel that there treacherous life’s can never be restored, to those I share a special camaraderie, or better yet to make someone happy and let them know that they are not alone.
With my ten dollars I would go to the 99 cents store and go crazy buying 9 items, the extra dollar would be for tax. It might sound ridiculous and boring yet growing in the environment I have, I’ve learned to appreciate everything that’s giving to me and share it with those I love and admire for different reasons. Walking into the 99 cents store the smell of cheap cologne and brown bananas next to me where present nonetheless the store was impacted as if what the day after Christmas sells.
The first item I put in my basket would be a blank cd ready to burn. My Nicaraguan co-worker Leo has always been a great fan of Regeton music however after bringing my Smiths cd to work he fell in love with the voice of Morrissey and I planned to burn him a mix. Turning the corner I find myself in the school supplies section where I find an animal coloring book. I put it in my basket as my second item for my little sister who one day dreams to be a vetenarian. I also find a leopard design journal set which includes five pens, 2 pencils, and a giant erase, and of course the journal. The journal set it my third item going to my friend Jesse who one day will become a writer.
I also select the fourth item in the school supplies section where I find a schedule organizer which is filled with different types of calendars and schedules. Filled with plenty of pens and a definitely needed schedule I would buy this for my AP Lit/Academic Decathlon coach so she can finally get herself organized with her extremely busy schedules. Cat designs all over with tiny hearts I find myself selecting my fifth item as a photo album for my girlfriend Susana. Knowing she loves to design and decorated scratch books I plan to give her the photo album with a picture of myself in it for her to work around and build momentum book of us. A picture of Jesus catches my attention in the candle on my far right. Reading “hope” English for hope I select it as my sixth item planning on giving it to my hope. My mom having gone through disability for the past 2 years found inspiration from Jesus and has found another reason to give thanks, having religion help her get through the tough times.
I find a bottle of tapatio Chile and suddenly think of my friend Melissa. Although being white she has found herself crossing over to the Mexican culture and now enjoys eating Tapatio with Lays chips a classic appetizer for our Academic Decathlon team, a team she is well a part of. Giving my brother a gift was a little tough after coming from Iraq a couple of weeks ago. Nonetheless I find self getting him a card that only said “ thank you for …” surrounded by an American flag. I felt my words of giving him thanks for not only protecting America was more important than anything else besides thanking him for acting as my father and a male figure I never had. As I was ready to pay I found myself with an extra buck and I decide to buy 3 crunch bars which are always 3 for 99 cents. As I left the store I gave one of my crunch bars to a little boy who was crying for attention.
The simplest things in life are the most valuable. Why not spend 10 bucks in making not only your self happy as well as other, an motion much greater than a Hummer or house. Ten bucks to me means more than a green paper that can get me into a two hour movie, it means hope, a feeling a brought with me. </p>

<p>can somene evaluate my essay</p>

<p>i dont think its a good idea to put ur essays up on the internet where everyone can see it. not sayin that i dont trust the people in here, its just the people in here may not be the only ones reading ur essay.</p>
