JHU Accepted Students Please!!!!

Hi, I am looking to apply to schools for something related the medical/healthcare field.
Could any of you guys who were accepted into JHU this year or even before share your stats and also comment on mine??

SAT superscore- 2190
Weighted GPA- 4.448
Took AP Lang and Comp junior year
Taking AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Lit senior year
SAT Subject Tests: Chem 690, going to take Math 2C and Biology this October

Extracurriculars:
-National Honors Society
-Red Cross Lifeguard- worked at pool over the summer
-Swim team (2 years)
-Volunteer at hospital for 100 hours
-Volunteer/internship program at Columbia University Medical Center over this summer
-Volunteered at library for 50 hours

I too am interested in attending JHU for premed or medicine. I am a U.S. citizen actually living in India and will complete my secondary education here ( I am currently in 9th grade). I am by no means an expert but almost everyone has told me to have more of a) research related activities, b) keep your grades as high as humanly possible.

i am taking some APs from India, shadowing doctors at a local hospital, interning at a medical lab.

Again, I am not an expert and frankly looking for all the advice I can get. But for my measly two cents, I would recommend trying to show some more science and STEM related activities and interests to really show that you have the passion.

I got rejected ED, which has a lot higher acceptance rate than regular if that’s what you applied. I applied pre-med/ Biomed eng

I thought applying ED would give me a strong chance but it’s very competitive this year… all I can say is good luck!!

Wow, @saharasand I thought you had some pretty good stats and ECs. If you don’t mind, I have a couple of questions.

  1. How do you think your essays were?
  2. How do you think your letters of recommendations were?
  3. How did you do that research in DNA. Did you do it with a professor or on your own.
  4. Was the Harvard Summer School worth it as a learning experience and do you think it added any value
  5. Are you an international applicant or domestic?
  6. Where are you going for college. What other schools did you get accepted into with these amazing stats?

Thanks, I am just a freshman but I also hope to attend for premed or bio-engineering.

  1. Essays were pretty good
  2. Recs were glowing from what I read (I had my research professor , APUSH, and AP Bio teacher write them), I would have liked to get one of my Harvard profs to write one but there just wasn’t time for them to get to know me as well.
  3. With a professor.
  4. I loved HSS, it solidified my interests in Biology (Stem Cell and molecular biology especially) and I got to meet a lot of diverse individuals. I’m considering going to school in Boston so it also exposed me to the city a lot. I would recommend it if you have the resources monetarily, if not I would highly recommend doing some type of internship/college programs this summer (NASA has some cool ones in Cali).
  5. Domestic.
  6. My stats pale in comparison to many of my peers. Right now I’m highly considering BU because they gave me almost full-ride and cost of tuition is very important for my family. Ivies come out this week, but I was waitlisted at UVA and did not write their mandatory supplement and Barnard. Rej from UChicago and CMU.

One of my close friends in my AP Calc BC class attended the JHU CTY programs for 3 summers and was rejected from JHU regular decision (BME and Bio applicant) I don’t know what direction they’re taking with admission decisions this year (or recently) but I’m sure they have some method to their madness (or so I would like to think). I think only 1 or 2 people from my HS got in, and our senior class is about 1300 kids.
