JHU Astrophysics and AI Program Inquiry

Hello,

I am a prospective applicant to JHU for the fall of 2019. Normally, one hears about the BME program at JHU, but I wanted to gauge the level/quality of some other departments at JHU.

Namely, is the astrophysics program at JHU a top program? Are there Undergrad research opportunities? Could JHU astrophysics even compare to other such programs at Harvard, Princeton, or Yale?

Additionally, how would you rate the JHU Engineering department against other top schools? Is the AI Program at JHU among the top of the pack?

Thank you for the help. With little time left till the application cycle begins for c/o 2019 students to apply, I want to see whether JHU is a quality school for me, particularly, to apply to. Your help is appreciated.

A JHU Astrophysics Professor recently won a Nobel Prize (2011) and still actively teaches and researches in the department. I’ve heard good things about their AI research as well, but that is not my area, so I can’t really attest to it. You can look at the research descriptions on the departmental websites.

The engineering department is very strong at JHU. Most of the inividual departments(CS, MechE, ChemBE, BME, etc.) have huge funding and have many labs on campus.
