JHU Class of 2015 RD Wait Discussion

AKA the "We're all doomed!" thread.

Now as many are finishing their applications, let's pass the time to March 31.

Just finished and submitted supplement 4 minutes before the new year. I can’t wait till the 31st. Good Luck All!!!

Submitted 3 days ago. Hoping for the best, really want to go to JHU!

The day after I submitted my application, I got really paranoid and checked my supplements just to make sure I didn’t spell Johns Hopkins incorrectly. Everything was fine. :)

When and how does jhu notify? Email? There is no website to check, correct? And when?

Usually email and the website says “Before April 1”

Eh, not too worried about my JHU decision, more worried about other colleges right now.

Cool story bro.

Yours is too.

got really paranoid about JOHNS HOPKINS spelling throughout my supplement. ><

So I procrastinate a lot… I submitted my app at 11:59 on the 1st

I wonder if the applications went up or down? Guesses?

It went up. This came out today: [Hopkins Insider It is 2011, and that means more FAQs](http://blogs.hopkins-interactive.com/blog/2011/01/it-is-2011-and-that-means-more-faqs/)

“this will be the largest applicant pool in Johns Hopkins history and we have seen an increase for the ninth straight year.”

We know it’s up. The question now is by how much? I say 10-20% and the overal admission rate for this cycle will be 15-20% with 17% being the most likely number.

I applied and it is one of my top school. I hope for good news in April, seriously. I loved the campus and everything else.

well…I love Johns Hopkins, but the problem is they have to like me to…

I thought yall might want to know, I found out I was accepted a few days ago, and I was told by a coach that there were 26,000 applicants this year. I thought that seemed impractical seeing as last year there were only ~17,000 but that is what was said so take it for what it is worth.

That would drop JHU down to 15%, which would make the school look quite a bit better. Such a jump in applications is uncommon but not unprecedented. I think that only a few years ago UChicago admitted nearly 40% of applicants, now it’s down to about 20%.

26000 seems to be too high. Last year’s number was 18,455. That’s a 40.8% increase.

yeah - 26,000 cannot be right.

I assume it’s in the 19-21K range.

No, it’s not impossible for there to be a 40% increase, but it is quite unlikely. Chicago’s apps went up by 42% one year.
