JHU Class of 2015 RD Wait Discussion

Freshman wait-listed students (students who met admission requirements but whose final admission was contingent on space availability)
Number of qualified applicants offered a placed on waiting list: 3667
Number accepting a place on the waiting list: 3006
Number of wait-listed students admitted: 1

That’s what it says on the 2009-2010 guidebook.

I got deferred in ED…
I hope I get in this time… T.T

^^
That’s a very slim chance - _-

@1081736

Absolutely not. We released less than 150 “likely letters.” We will be admitting many more students than that.

@turntables

We do not release that statistic as it varies greatly from year-to-year and depends heavily on the quality of the applicant pool and how each deferred applicant performed.

@fanboy
The statistics you posted relate to wait list decisions – not ED defer decisions. More importantly what happened with the wait list in one year (2009-10) has nothing to do with what happens with the wait list in another year.

Oh okay, thanks. I know it varies year to year, but wanted to put it out for those who were wondering. Here’s the guidebook for anyone who wants to look more into things: <a href=“Registrar - Homewood Schools (KSAS & WSE) | Office of the Registrar | Johns Hopkins University”>Registrar - Homewood Schools (KSAS & WSE) | Office of the Registrar | Johns Hopkins University;

Wait list stats throughout the most recent history:
2010 = ~30 admits from the wait list
2009 = 1 admit from the wait list
2008 = ~40
2007 = ~80
2006 = no offers
2005 = no offers
2004 = ~150
2003 = ~100
2002 = no offers
2001 = ~50
2000 = no offers

See it varies year to year.

so being an international student who has applied for financial aid … it has really lessened my chances? no ?

^^AdmissionsDaniel ~ thanks for all the information. you are really very helpful in providing information, straightening issues and getting the facts straight.

JHU is my dream school ever since i was in 4th gr when i made it to cty. but then again (like cty), there is no way in the world that we can afford it. i still applied (bme) bec i had waiver coupons, & of course, bec it’s my childhood dream school. if i get accepted, i will be both happy & sad. if i get rejected, i would still be sad but relieved.

The class of 2015 (i.e. your fate) is sealed. Cheers!

Wasn’t the admit rate a lot higher last year?

yea, it was 20.4% last year and 26.8% the year before… so I would say it is a lot better as compared to the last 2 yrs (in terms of difference).

dammit… :(

I’m so excited for today!!

Thanks for posting the slideshow, AdmissionsDaniel. I’ve always wanted to know how the release process really works…

Can’t wait for 3:00! :)

good luck everyone! less than three hours until the emails start coming out.

The decisions will be released around 3:00 pacific time right? then it’s about 115 mins until I know if I’m destined to be with JHU or not… anyway, I just want to say thanks to AdmissionsDaniel. His posts guided me through this crazy journey.

AdmissionsDaniel - thank you for all the helpful information you have provided. You are a great ambassador for JHU. This process is gruesome for kids and those that love the kids. Having information directly from someone in the Admissions Office (as opposed to speculation) was wonderful. You obviously care about the applicants and JHU. D is hoping for an acceptance tonight; regardless, I trust you gave her application a fair read. Many thanks.

Good luck everyone! and thank you so much AdmissionsDaniel. You were such a great help for all the students. Even if I don’t get into JHU, I’d still be happy to have applied to such a wonderful school.

I think I got in? I accessed my portal on the ISIS network to find that JHU had given me a financial aid package for the 2011-2012 school year. Does this mean I’m in?

Nothing in my ISIS…
