Sorry this is like the hundredth time I’ve asked this but I sent in my much improved (my total score went up 90 points) SAT score the day it came out on Nov. 21. I also sent JHU a snapshot of my scores in an email. Do you think they received everything in time for it to be reviewed with my application? My math score was really low in the one I sent them before (probably enough to keep me out) but in my new score its in the middle 50%.

When did you send it to them eps?

I would say if you sent it to them before last week and contacted the regional rep like they said to in the blog post you should be fine!

I sent it to them the day I got them, november 21st! I also just emailed my rep yesterday… is that a little too late?

eps I’m sure you’re fine but honestly none of us on here can give you an accurate answer. Especially at this point when decisions are most likely already all made there is not point worrying yourself about it. You just have to hope for the best.

ahh ok thanks. do you think they’d still re-review my application though? Will it look bad that I emailed my rep so late?

Also as another aside did anyone here apply for the woodrow wilson undergraduate research fellowship or are we only supposed to apply if were accepted?

I don’t know as I’m not on admissions stop worrying about it! You’ve done your best. Now all you can do is sit back and wait :)

i guess but still this sat score basically means everything because the one i sent them originally is really terrible.

@bayernmunich, I would have to disagree with you. I think we can both agree that 1450 is a very small applicant pool, considering it holds ALL applicants from around the world. I think we can also both agree that the majority of the applicant pool is from the U.S. Therefore, international applicants (the rest of the world) would fill in the minority of the ED applicant pool. On top of all that, I’m from Canada, meaning that I compete with applicants from my region (most likely Canada and Mexico), not Asia. The sub-applicant pool that I’m in is even smaller than the already small ED applicant pool.

@Yoloswag2014 I don’t mean that the pool is very big overall. I was just saying that the international applicants probably make up 11% of the incoming class. I went to school in Asia for a bit and I know tons of kid who just apply to top notch schools ED for the hell of it. I don’t think JHU is any different. 11% of 1450 is just around 160. That actually a lot of international applicants when you compare to other schools. Its not as international as USC or Colombia, but it definitely isn’t homogeneous.

@bayernmunich31, no I definitely see your point. It’s just that whatever way you put it, the ED applicant pool for international students will be much less than the ED applicant pool for Americans. Then you have to factor in region, making the international ED applicant pool even smaller. Provided that 11% of 1450 kids from all across the globe apply, that would mean a Canadian like myself would probably be competing with, at most, 50% of that 160. To say the least, the international ED applicant pool per region is TINY compared to the overall ED applicant pool of just 1450.

Right, but it doesn’t even matter because the ratio of accepted students is the same for each micro pool.

Well, not necessarily. For early decision, it does in fact matter because the ratio of accepted students doesn’t follow a strict ratio, so it won’t necessarily be the same for each pool. Usually, the ED round determines the caliber that admissions expects from the RD applicant pool.

I suppose. Ugh guys I can’t get my mind off of this! i don’t know how I’m going to survive in school this week :/

@eps I feel your pain!! Classes on Friday are gonna be awful. Are you guys considering anywhere else for ED II in the case that you don’t get into JHU?

My ED II backup would either be Tufts, Emory, or Middlebury!
I’m of course hoping not to resort to the ED II option though :p

My ED II backup is NYU Ugh, this week i have so many assignments due. I really hope I get some good news by the end of it

Are you guys checking in school?

@eps no way omg, I’m checking when I get home to either jump around and scream/cry in the privacy of my own bedroom, haha!

@Yoloswag2014 my backup is NYU too!

@eps yeah there’s no way I’ll check in school… worst case scenario, I wouldn’t want to break down crying in the middle of my chem class :P
