Is JHU’s engineering school considered prestigious among other schools and is the education worth it? I know that JHU is known for mostly Medicine and BME, but I really liked the campus and want to apply (maybe E.D.) as an Applied Math and Statistics major. Are there a lot of internship opportunities for Applied Math and Statistics majors and are students well prepared to go into the workforce?
Hopkins engineering is pretty prestigious - i believe we’re ranked #14 for undergrad engineering. Our applied math department is especially good and a lot of students get internships in finance, consulting, and software.
When I was there it was a popular major. Although it is in the Engineering School, it is oriented towards statistics and operations research. Some of the students are pre MBA. There are applied math programs that are more oriented towards engineering applications, and emphasize more numerical analysis and so on.
