I have been to a couple of info sessions (both on and off campus) and I get the feeling that hopkins is trying to change its image by focusing on the humanities..

i know that hopkins has an excellent med reputation, but are they cutting down now because of this change? how extensive are the science departments there? I only see 2-4 science majors being offered.

?????... 49 majors buddy... 40 minors... med school is not part of undergraduate school... do a little bit more info research... Hopkins always had a strong humanities.. so i do not know what you're talking about... Writing Seminars/International relations have always been top 3 if im not wrong in the nation... remember, graduate schools/med/law are separate from what the university does with its undergraduate school

When I visited and asked people what their majors were, I heard mostly International Relations, Political Science, and Public Health (in that order from what I remember). Considering JHU is like a stone throw away from Washington D.C. it makes sense to me. I don't think they are trying to downplay their pre-med program or change their image, but get people to realize that while yes, they do have a strong pre-med program, they also have other really strong programs too.
