what is JHU's grading system like? do you get "+" and "-" on your final transcript, or its just the grade? and do you get +.3 points for "+" and -.3 for a "-"? feedback would be greatly appricated, thank you.

"+ and -" are on the transcript. A+=4.0, A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3,B=3.0,B-=2.7,C+=2.3,C=2.0,C-=1.7..etc. Unfortunately JHU doesn't give 4.3 for an A+ like stanford, cornell and other schools do. But when grad schools such as Stanford receive the JHU transcript, the extra .3 is added onto A+s when they recalculate GPAs.

not for med. school

thank you!

Are your grades based on the performance of other students? i.e. the best score gets an A+ and then it decreases from there?

Somewhat. Its curved. Usually the top 20-30% of any given class gets As. Some hardcore math classes only have the top 10% getting As.

this grading system really scares me. i managed to pull A in some classes last year but they were like 89.6-90.4. guess in JHU that will bring my GPA down.

The grading really depends on the class. Some professors do straight grades (ie 93+ = A, 90-02 = A-). Others will adjust or curves grades as needed. In Calc II this last semester, an overall 45% was passing
