Well, I only told her to pick WashU because I thought that would have been a better option for her considering all the information she presented.
I truly love JHU and I have been wanting to go there for the past 4 years and what I tell others shouldn’t exhibit my personal preferences because myself and the one to whom I responded most likely have different goals and different outlooks on life. :)

NOT APPLYING FOR A SCHOLARSHIP OR ANY SORT OF AID!!!

I am not sure where I stand. Don’t know what to expect.

Is there anything else I should do? Any suggestions are welcome.
Thank you soooooooo much for your time.

lol obnoxious i think ur …lying? haha no offense. but hopkins value research like no other. so having siemanns westinghouse(assuming you made at least regional finalist) intel(assuming again having advanced to a pretty legit position) and all that internship should of guaranteed you in. UNLESS …you have no other exc’s, no officer positions, lowass GPA(not top 10%), and your essays sucked(i.e writing a topic like “my trip to france”), SAT low(below 2100), or you had conduct issues(suspended or disciplined in school). If your merely average in all of those, and had all those legit research you claimed, you definitely should of gottn in.

Or maybe he didn’t get in because the bad attitude so obvious in his posts. Maybe he was a boring applicant with 100 others just like him. Maybe it’s all a government conspiracy and AdmissionsDaniel is actually the third alien reincarnation of Elvis.

In any event, it doesn’t really help you (the OP) or anyone else to sit and ruminate on all the reasons you didn’t get in. The best thing to do is give yourself a day or two for your pity party, then focus on the awesome schools who DO want you. If you were rejected, it’s likely that you wouldn’t have been very happy at Hopkins anyway. The Admissions office is trying to build a community. If they didn’t think you would fit in with the community they’re creating, why would you want to be a part of it? Complaining on an internet message board in an attempt to “warn the others!” is not going to get the admissions committee to change their mind, or help you to move on.

The same goes for applicants trying to analyze why so-and-so didn’t get in, and subsequently freaking out about their own chances. There are a million possible reasons why “obnoxious” was rejected, and no one can can you exactly why - especially given the fact that we know next to nothing about him. Relax. Step away from the computer.

After checking the OP’s chance threads, I can see that he has no other EC’s than his research and he has a 3.3 unweighted GPA with 13 AP classes.

Another thing I noticed was that he mentioned that he wrote his essay on his parents’ refugee status instead of writing about himself.

Just some things to take into consideration.

obnoxious -
there is no magic formula to getting into hopkins. sure there are things like gpa and research and junk but ultimately when they have to sift through thousands upon thousands of applications, some people who deserve to be here might get omitted and vice versa.

they also look at other things that may not be comparable on your resume. sure many kids have 4.0’s and 2400s or whatever but in the end, what sets them apart from the rest?

wherever you go, i hope you enjoy it and do well in. i didnt get into my school of choice but hopkins is working out for me and i hope the same thing happens to you.

cheers
