I'm down to these two schools. I visited both recently- WUSTL is the clear cut winner in terms of better campus / food / dorms. However, I wanted your opinion on which pre-med program you think is better. Which will give me a better chance of getting into a good med school and why? Any current students have opinions?

You pretty much can’t go wrong with either of those options. Both washu and JHU have top notch pre-med programs, and I’d be lying if I said one was clearly better than the other.

The one that has the school that will make you happier. Seriously. One will really not give you an edge over the other when you start breaking it down via academics/ any other measure like that. They’re far too similar, so go with your gut.

It sounds like that is WashU for you, so congrats!

Trust your instincts. You liked WUSTL better and so go there.

I choose WashU over Hopkins. I had took a course at Hopkins during the summer and lived on campus for three weeks when I was in high school. I also visited during the school year. My choice was easy. Some major factors for me regarding JHU- neuroscience students I met gave the impression there is some cutthroat attitude; area around campus isn’t safe at night; Fr dorm rooms are small and very old.

I am a PNP major/premed at WashU.

GL with your decision.

I posted my opinion somewhere. Let me repeat here. I chose WashU over JHU. I liked JHU when I visited although its neighborhood’s a bit scary. But I heard from my counselor and some other people that JHU premed is a cut-throat and so competitive while WashU premed is rather collaborative. Premed is not easy no matter where you go. However, WashU has a certainly more friendly culture and students are working together collaborating each other. I am happy a happy camper at WashU.

I also chose Wash U over JHU. And I know I made the right choice. Not for premed though.

A pointless post but I have insomnia :p

Just to add to my last post, and to continue the trend, I too chose WashU over JHU (& Duke).

Didn’t want my bias to show though… had you said the exact opposite in your original post, I still would have just suggested “go with your gut.”

Thanks to many of you on this forum and all your constructive comments, as my son has decided to join your community next fall! We really couldn’t be any happier about his choice.

My son said that what really sold him on the campus (he felt that the academics at the schools that he was interested in were pretty comparable) is the tremendous amount of friendliness that he encountered when he visited.

Congrats PsychoDad10! Best of luck to your son!

As an aside, I actually did NOT consider JHU, contrary to what one might assume based upon the responses to this thread, hahaha.
