God help me, I love them both, yet a threesome is out of the question...

I realize someone posted this for premed, but I'm trying to decide between the two and I'm a humanities person.
Actually, I'd be glad to take any advice on how to make the decision- it doesn't have to be specific to the school. Is there any criteria that you guys think is essential to cover? Any decision making techniques that you think are helpful? What should I consider in order to make a decision that will make me the happiest?

(I realize this is fairly open ended given it's me-centric, but I realized that there's lots of criteria that's important that I hadn't thought to add.)

hm i dont know.. neither of them are particularly known for humanities.. i guess washu is not as overbearingly pre-med though as hopkins is.. however hopkins writing seminars are apparently amazing.. but i dont know if thats for grad school

Again, I suggest you choose JHU, it has a better reputation though it is not ranked as high as Wash U, but we all know about US News... JHU, certainly!

One simple technique which I've heard people say has helped them is to choose one of the schools you're wavering about and tell yourself, "There. It's done. I'm attending. I will never be able to undo this decision." And see how you feel. Let yourself go for a few hours (or a day, if you can) thinking about how you've decided to go there, and observe whether you are excited or have a knot in your stomach. The next day (or a few hours later if that's all you can spare), switch schools and tell yourself you'll be going to the OTHER school, and see how that feels. You may find that just a simple role-play like this is enough to tell you where you really want to go.

Well stated mootmom - that is actually how I chose my college. I actually put the T-shirts on for each school and imagined myself during the last week of my freshman year looking back over my first year in college.

As for the OPs question - there are many similarities between JHU and Wash U. Focus on the differences - namely location and students.

Do you see yourself in St. Louis or Baltimore -- rooting for the Cardinals or Orioles? Which student body do you think you would better fit?

Academics are both top notch across all disciplines. In the end you will make the right decision.

interesting...you take tejada over pujols?
