I'm kind of in a depressed/super angry mood right now due to some of the UC decisions, I had my heart set on one of the UC's and so far I have been denied by UCLA, and UCSD, and judging from the statistics of last year's UCSD class, i was far above them.
I applied to UCD, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and several privates.

I had a 4.1 weighted GPA, at one of the top public high schools in Norcal (Davis)
I took (or am taking) 3 out of the 4 toughest classes at the school

I got a 32 on my ACT ~ 2170 on the SAT
Math 2 -790
Physics -690

I have plenty of extra curriclars, such as music, sports, and have many examples of leadership and several awards, I feel completely ripped off, and I'm worrying if I should appeal, or if I will get into any of the UCs I haven't heard from yet.

You’re not impressive for UCLA standards. Your GPA is rather low and you only have 2 APs which neither is a 5. An appeal might be difficult. You might have been jipped UCSD.

You need to just hope you get into Berkeley. Maybe they’ll offer you Spring admissions. (I think that’s how it works.)

Oh yeah, i totally was reaching for UCLA, but I was super disappointed by UCSD.
What do you guys think about UCD though?
(Although it would suck to go there since I already live here…)

Um, I don’t know too much about UCD since I’m from down here in Southern Cali, but I know it’s a good school and easier to get into than UCSD. Plus they take the holistic approach, so that seems to be a plus for you.

And don’t nix a school simply because of the close proximity. I’m only 45minutes (to 2.5 hours because of LA traffic) away from UCLA, whereas all of my other schools are out of state, most to the east coast. Yet, I think UCLA has the benefits to outweigh being so close to home. It all depends on what you want. Plus, you can see friends, while getting a very dandy education.

I must say that I’m quite surprised by all these fairly high stat rejections to UCLA and SD. I guessing for sure UCD will accept you, and apparently many UCLA rejectees are accepted to CAL, so you still have a very very good chance.

Appeal!!! is the only answer if you still want to go. I had a friend who was rejected UCLA and CAL last year, and after appealing she was accepted as a spring student at CAL, so don’t give up!!!

Your stats by no means super impressive. Even for UCSD I think your ecs are lacking somewhat. Your essays could have killed you too. Idk what you wrote about though.

If you call the UCSD admissions office, someone will go over your application with you and the points assigned for each section. This should give you a better idea of what happened.

From what I can see, your stats seem okay. Compared to my own, and I got into UCLA with them, they’re pretty high. What I’m wondering about is how many AP’s and honors classes you took.

You can always appeal if you really want to get in. You have to have a recent and compelling reason though. Don’t waste your time if you just want them to look over your application again with the same information.
With your stats, I believe you can get into UCD. If you have your heart set on UCLA OR UCSD, you can just go to a CC and transfer.

What is your rank, UW GPA, and number of AP/Honors classes? Were you in at least the top 5% of your high school? UCs are generally pretty objective in their admissions. Even though LA/Cal pay more attention to ECs and essays, I would say your transcript and standardized test scores are the most outstanding factors.

Don’t feel too bad =/ I also got rejected by UCLA with these stats:

Weighted GPA:4.36
Rank: 9 out of 615 (which means I was ELC -.-)
SAT: 2150, Math:750, Writing 720, CR:680
SAT II scores: Math II:760, Chemistry: 730, US History: 680, Lit:610
ACT Score: 33, Reading:35, Science 30, Math 34, English, 32, essay:9
AP Scores: Calculus AB(5), Chemistry (4), US History (4), English Language (4), World History (4)
I volunteered +100 hours for Rose Parade Decoration and library.
I also have leadership because I’m Editor of my school’s literary magazine and I’ve been active in NHS, CSF, and Math Club.
My essays were also well written =/

I also took several college classes(all UC transferable+straight As) and I sent my college transcript to UCLA…

I’m currently taking Physics B AP, English AP, Calculus BC AP, Econ AP, Finance, Accounting, and Academic Decathlon =/
