is................... god

Your welcome. :)

hardly, he wont go pro, and if he does he'll suck. hes the best pure shooter in the game, but he cant make anythng happen and he is a chooker, which is why duke couldnt make the final four this year.

Hell make it to the pros. He is one of the best players. If Chris paul can go that high in the draft. JJ will at least get drafter hopefully 1st round after this year

Im assuming you mean choker farbdogg. That seems to be the thing to say about Redick but its not all that true. True he had some bad games in high stakes games (Kansas Sweet 16, UConn Final Four and the two big ones that come to mind) but you got to realize that he's done some pretty amazing things in big games also that a lot of people like to ignore or just say thats what hes supposed to do. Like in his freshman year he pretty much scored everything in the second half versus NC State in the ACC Finals and they came back from like 20. Or this year at the Garden when Duke was down 10 at halftime against Okla. he couldnt miss a three in the 2nd half. Remember when Duke went down to Florida for what was supposed to be two tough games (Florida State had just beaten WF I think) he was draining everything. And even at WF this year when the rest of the team sucked he had Duke in it until the final minute singlehandedly. So he could make things happen (even though you probably mean off the dribble, I kinda agree with you there). Hey, Steve Kerr had an awesome NBA career and Redicks already been in high pressure situations and just as good and maybe better than kerr. By the way, even the most diehard Duke fan knew the Final Four wasnt happening this year. We're kinda shocked they got as far as they did.

Redick will definitely get drafted, probably in the first round.

He is one of the best 3 pt & FT shooters in the country, and any NBA team would be delighted to have a role player like JJ.

While he's surely enjoying a great college career, I just can't see him performing the same way in the pros. He's a white 3-pt shooter who can't create shots for himself and has a slow first step. Do I hear Mike Dunleavy?

no I hear John Stockton. I hear Tony Kukoc. I hear Steve Kerr. All those white fellas who drain threes. That will be REDDICK!

no he wont, hes not good enough, especially on defense like all the players just mentioned were (although john stocktons shooting abilities totally overshadow is defensive skills.) anyways, hes a great free throw shooter... who cares? thats not what takes a man to the pros. nobody remembers a player, i dont even remember his namer, he played for xavier or butler, and he only missed 4 free throws throughout his entire college career. you know why no one remembers? because that is all he can do. sali, stoudamire totally rapes reddick in shooting ability, he cant shoot and make things happen like a ray allen, michael jordan, john stockton. most importantly he doesnt have three point range at the nba level.

im not saying he wont go pro, if he gets drafter 2nd at best, he'll have a lowsy career

i mean to say *drafted 2nd round at best

Clearly no one here knows anything about John Stockton. John Stockton is in my opinion, the most underrated player in the history of the National Basketball league. His game could not resemble Reddick's any less. The only similarity between the two players is their skin color. While it is true that Stockton was a very efficient shooter and scorer (off the top of my head I believe he was a career 52% field goal shooter) those were clearly not his strengths. Stockton is the NBA's all time assist leader because of his tremendous court vision, and his ability to penetrate off the dribble. Although not particularly flashy, Stockton was very effective at running the fast break (having Karl Malone helped) and could penetrate effectively in the half court offense. Reddick can't do either of those things. Stockton was also a ferocious, consistent defender (the NBA's all time steals leader) and certainly much more effective defensive player than Reddick will ever be. However, to be fair to Reddick, with his shot (and I do think he has NBA range) he can score in bunches, and create problems for opposing defenses with his ability to shoot contested shots (as opposed to Stockton who was efficient, and could create shots for others, but couldn't really create his own shot).

In my opinion, the player Reddick most resembles in the NBA is Jason Kapono (or maybe Fred Hoiberg). That really however, is no way Reddick is going to be a worse NBA player than Jason Kapono. I think Reddick is a little quicker than Kapono (even though thats not much of a statement), and may be able to dribble penetrate a little in the NBA, so he maybe he'll be a Wesley Person kind of player. I'd say late first rounder, but we'll see.

Edited for spelling

We just got to wait and see. Youre right Stockton is totally different from Redick. Stockton was all about the assists, Redicks all about the shot. From seeing him in person for a year I'd say Redick has to work on his ball handling and driving to the basket (too many times he drove and threw his hands up when he knew he was outplayed to try to draw a foul). He's actually an underrated defender and was getting tougher assignments as the season went on. (I remember before the UNC game last year Coach K was giving a speech outside Cameron and someone asked him who would guard McCants. Coach K said it was going to be a surprise and we all knew what that meant. Redick did a good job with McCants throughout the game and came in clutch on the last play).

duke 25 - I remember that speech too!! At first I thought Lee would be the one to guard McCants...

The bottom line for Redick is: He will still show up in the NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND... as a participant of the 3 pt contest...

Wow, a lot of people here don't know basketball. JJ Redick's most accurate comparison was made by Dick Vitale a couple years ago, calling him a "more athletic Casey Jacobsen." If you recall, Casey Jacobsen was drafted in the late 1st round, which is where Redick will go as well. Redick is more than just a shooter. He is a very good defender (you have to be to play at Duke) and he has very good athleticism. He is a lock for the NBA, and I suspect that he will be a great role player for a very long time.

consensus from ppl here that actually know bball and are relatively unbiased (everyone seems to think they're an expert the minute they step on duke's campus) is that jj is a good player but needs to prove it in the NCAA tourney this time around. playing well in ACC games is great but ultimately at duke greatness = national title. he'll have the best opportunity this year as the team is much deeper so he wont be worn down at season's end.
