I recently got a letter from the mail and an e-mail about how I was selected for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship. Is this legit? I've received mail from honor societies before where you have to pay to join and those turned out to be a scam for the most part.

i have not heard of it. that’s all the help I can offer

I did a Google search for it. They have an impressive website.

What exactly are they telling you in the letter? Are they asking you for money? What does it say?

It’s legit. Are you sure they’re not just inviting you to apply? It says those who make it to the first round are notified in November. Perhaps your high school notified them of qualified candidates.

I don’t know if you had to fill out an application for it or you were nominated by someone else, but here are the requirements on their website:

Btw, Jack Kent Cooke was the former owner of the Redskins, Lakers and LA Kings among other accomplishments that obviously made him wealthy enough to own sports teams.

Okay, thanks guys. They’re not asking for money and they’re just inviting my to apply.

This scholarship is a very big deal. There is a process to the application so you would def only been asked to apply and not have received a gift awarding in the mail with no idea what it was about! It is definitely worth applying. Congrats for having been asked.
