JMU 2011 waitlist

Hi, i was recently put on the waitlist, I really want to go to JMU in the fall. and i was wondering, who else is on the waitlist? Any predictions as to how many people they will need this year? Have you been accepted? are you attending?

I just received notice that I was placed on the waitlist today. I am rising junior transfer

I’m a transfer at ODU, got my letter today and put on the wait list. (I’m a sophomore rising junior). I’m a business marketing major, and I think its because I dont have my science credit because I’m taking Bio this semester?

Heyy I was put on the waitlist too :frowning: jmu is my absolute #1 its hard to think about going anywhere else. When I found out I was on the waitlist I was depressed for a straight week hahah… BUT at least we still have a chance. Where are you from?

JMU publishes wait list statistics (as do most schools; it’s called the “Common Data Set” and you can google it). They admitted 450 off last year’s wait list and 495 the previous year. So you definitely have a chance. My daughter was also wait listed. She loved the school but will probably not be going there.

Is that the date you were referring too? How can you tell what JMU plans to accept off the wait list?

I was referring to the data on the preceding page which is directed to first time freshmen admission wait list. It doesn’t look like they break out the transfer wait list information separately.

hey guys, i just got my wait list letter today. its such a killer. jmu is one of my top for transfer. i’m a rising junior and, if they extend me admission, i plan on attending.

It really is killer! I’m sorry… we’re in the sameee boat. Good luck! Where else did you apply?

The letter said you do not need to send us: updated transcripts and more recommendations, What are people thinking about this? My dad says i should send them anyways, but i say that if they say they dont want it, then they dont want it, although i am still going to send a letter restating my interest and updating them on community service i have been doing lately. thoughts?

that’s odd my waitlist letter said for me to mail my transcripts as soon as this semesters grades are posted

Send anyway! I did. They say they don’t want it but it definitely shows initiative and if you got good grades it can only help

Hey All,
I am currently a Freshmen and I myself was waitlisted last year. I know how hard it is but definitely take the initiative to send in a note and an additional transcripts. I myself sent from transcript after my 4th quarter grades were finalized and wrote a personalize note expressing my interest and two weeks later was offered admission. Good luck to you all!

yeah, my letter said to send in transcripts as soon as grades were posted for this semester. ugh, im seriously trying to cram in my calc course in three weeks and finish it. it’s an online course, and i’m thinking that’s the reason that i was wait listed. i don’t know what else i can do. i have a 3.8 gpa, second semester soph, two huge leadership roles on student government, three letter varsity athlete in hs, 25 on ACTs, and over 58 credits so far. ugh. crazyyy. but i hope we all get in. heard there has been a low yield rate in past years. so we can only hope for the best.

Eman, thanks! when did you find out last year? I can’t stand all this waiting!
Startas, why didnt they accept you?! That is honestly crazy cause you deserve it. Ugh I’m sorry… what do you mean yield rate?

Just kidding I saw in the other forum you said June 16th hahah

thanks! i mean, it’s not a no. so i’m happy about that. and i honestly think it’s because the calc course im currently taking isn’t finished yet.

and by yield rate, i mean the number of students that accept their initial offer of admission has been low, so they tend to accept more wait list students. that’s what rumor has it anyway.

Ahh that’s great news… And if its because of the class you should definitely be good once you send your transcript. Good luck!

@heyyouu1234 best of luck to you too! lemme know if you get extended admission! :)

Yes I will and you too!
