Yes. My son just got deferred. Shocked and devastated. I went there.

My son was deferred as well. Congratulations all!

What were the stats if he was deferred? Thanks!

Congrats to all – deferments, too! My son was sadly not admitted. He’s a low stats kid (with rigor) and this was a reach for him. He has some other good choices, so we’ll try to only pout for a bit and keep working on the others.

Sorry to hear that. My son was deferred to and though his gpa is not high, he comes from a very rigorous school from which almost every applicant who applies to JMU gets in. This was a shock. Fingers crossed for RD. But may I ask: what other schools is your son looking at. My has been deferred at 8 so far (several reaches) and only has matches left, so not feeling good about his options. Trying to figure out if we should throw some other apps out there, though it feels so futile at this point. He’s done 13 so far.

Is anybody able to see the letter with their deferrment (or acceptance?). All I can see is the status, but when you click on view and print decision, nothing happens. Thanks.

Still pending on Honors College for my daughter

It’s extra tough when friends and peers are being admitted to schools you really want for yourself. My son was deferred at Tennessee (Knoxville), App State, Elon, and South Carolina. He’s most interested in TN and that decision comes first on 2/15. He’s having his best quarter yet, so hopefully that gives him a boost. Hang in there. We’ll get through the process and our boys will end up in a great place for THEM.

Acceptance Letter said mid-March for aid notification

My daughter got accepted! OOS in PA
She got the UREC email as well not sure if that means anything
Not crazy stats but 3.4 GPA, 1110 SAT but a lot of volunteer/extra curriculars

Her brother is a 2019 grad from JMU (He was waitlisted and got off the waitlist within 2 weeks of writing a letter to admissions counselor)
Good luck to everyone that was deferred, don’t give up hope!

One more question, now that I can see the letter. It says that 35% are sent back to admissions for review. Does that mean that 65% of early applicants were accepted? I cannot believe that. I thought it was like 30%! Do any early applications get outright rejected?

And in the letter it said they would notify us by early April. Deposits are due may 1st. It makes no sense. Especially since they have to send out financial aids. So that gives me less than a month to make a decision

I think I remember ready that about 30% accepted EA; about 30% deferred and about 30% rejected

D21 was accepted! This is her #3 right now; we need to know the finances before we can make a decision, but nice to have the acceptance!
3.85 Weighted; 1320 SAT, 4 APs and a lot of Honors.

Congrats to everyone! I have heard a lot of deferrals from EA get in at Regular decision, so continued luck to everyone!

I hope they send out decisions before April
