JMU decisions

Just heard that the EA kids are finding out about their decisions. Kat, do you know when the RD decisions will be mailed? Sorry to bug ya! Thanks.

MT, Theatre, and Dance RD applicant decisions are mailed within a day or so of decisions sent from JMU academic admissions. JMU sends academic decisions by April 1, generally by the end of March.

Applicants who auditioned for MT, Theatre, or Dance and are admitted to JMU academically will receive a letter from the School of Theatre and Dance regarding admission to the program. Applicants who are not admitted to JMU academically will not receive a letter from the School of Theatre and Dance. So, an applicant who is not admitted to JMU academically will not know whether or not they might have been admitted to the program.

Thanks, I appreciate the info!

Kat-my daughter learned today that she is waitlisted at JMU. How do you handle the notification of applicants for MT when they have been academically waitlisted? I see in your post above you clearly explain the process for admits and denied students. Thanks for any information you can provide!

If a student is waitlisted academically by the university they will not receive a letter from the school of Theatre & Dance indicating whether or not they would have been admitted to the programs if they had been academically admitted to JMU.

We do not hold spaces in the programs for students who have been waitlsted to the university. If a waitlisted student is eventually admitted to JMU academically he or she should contact the appropriate program coordinator (in the case of a Musical Theatre applicant – Me) to let him or her know of the change in admissions status.

This is the general answer to the question. Please have your daughter email me at arecchkm@jmu.edu if she would like more information specific to her.

I know this is a stressful time. All the best to everyone as results come in over the next week.

So if your D was accepted to the school does that mean they are accepted to the BA program or to another choice? She didn’t pick an alternative so not sure. Thanks.

What happened? I didnt get an email yesterday and everyone else did.

Lulu63 – Academic admissions to JMU are separate from Musical Theatre, Theatre, and Dance program admissions in the School of Theatre & Dance. If your D has been accepted academically to JMU it means that she may come to JMU “undeclared” or in a major that does not have a specialized admissions process (ie. English, History, etc…) if she is not admitted to the School of Theatre & Dance.

The School of Theatre & Dance will be sending it’s program admissions decisions out this week. All students who auditioned for the School of Theatre & Dance who were admitted academically will receive a letter from the School of Theatre & Dance regarding their program admissions status by the end of the week. Letters will be sent Monday and Tuesday of this coming week.

tm1993 – I do not work in the admissions office, so I cannot answer that questions for you. I would suggest that you check your “junk mail” folder to see if an email ended up there. If you do not receive an email by Monday you may want to contact the office of admissions directly. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance.

Kat- all the info you’ve provided has been very helpful. Thanks so much!

Thanks Kat! I appreciate the feedback. Guess we will keeping checking that mailbox! ;)
