When are notifications sent out?

They say not until mid-January.

[James Madison University - Dates and Deadlines](Admissions Dates and Deadlines - JMU)

My daughter heard last year at around the end of the first week in January. (She is currently a student). That seems to be the treand each year, although it can vary.

For those impatiently waiting - here is how it happened last year.

She had a friend who also applied. Friend updated a FB status saying she got a call from JMU and was accepted. DD was distraught because she had gotten no call and no email update. Then we happened to check caller ID and saw a “JMU” number on the ID. No message left. This gave her hope. After all, would they call to say no we do not want you?

Next day, she got an email, and the web was updated shortly thereafter. So keep an eye out on your caller ID, and your email.

Do the honors college acceptances come with the EA decisions, or later?

Do you know how you are supposed to check an acceptance online? Whenever I go to the MyMadison thing it always says complete next to my application?

Letters went out today. My DD got defered and she is a mess. I really think she will get in during RD, but she so wanted to get in EA. My heart aches for her.

Catie - there is no true-er statement than “A mother is only as happy as her saddest child”. I feel for you. I know that the wait can be killing and a deferral just makes it worse. If it is any condolence, she has a good chance at regular decision. They do make it clear that a large number of EA are deferrals, unlike at other schools.

deferred with a 2020 SAT and a 4.0 GPA. what is life

You’re bound to get in regular decision with a 2020 SAT and 4.0 GPA. Don’t stress.

ACCEPTED! GL to everyone!

Catie, I am so sorry. The comment from Momofa12 is so true. We are all so invested in their happiness. RD is coming!
Allovertheplace, I’m so sorry. My D said a lot of kids are being deferred who are surprises. The guidance dept seems to think they will all be fine. I think JMU has a pretty high rate of deferred EA kids getting admission in March though.
