JMU in person visit or tour late Spring 21?

Is there any chance that JMU will offer in person tours or admitted student days in April? Everything is virtual now but does anyone see this changing?

Been wondering same as my son is deciding between 2 schools and think this will really help. It’s probably too early to tell though. They are offering virtual sessions so far . They are doing in person tours though on limited basis which we went to in November.

Following! My D has been accepted but we have never visited- would love an in person tour

We did a self guided tour a couple weeks ago. We stopped by the bookstore and they gave us a map of the campus. Unfortunately, the students were not there. We plan to return while the students are there. We thought about driving there on Monday but it was closed because of a snowstorm. We will return again soon. We live a little less than 3 hrs from the campus.

We just finished touring today. The admissions office had a great packet of info for a self guided tour. We walked all over campus, saw the nursing labs, pool, tons of kids out on the quad, drove into town and ate lunch. It is definitely more open now even though it wasn’t a guided tour.

How far is the downtown area from campus? Can you walk?

Yes I think the students definitely do. We drove though.

One underrated thing about this campus to me is the arboretum and trails on the East campus. So beautiful.

It’s honestly one of the nicest campuses I’ve visited. I had my heart set on my alma mater Udel for my daughter and this blew it away to me.

@Midwest1818 During freshman orientation the class walks as a group from campus to the downtown area to explore the shops and restaurants.

Is their downtown area comparable to any other universities with a downtown nearby? It is terrific to have a bustling downtown area near campus.

The downtown is very active, with a lot of restaurants and small shops. From the traditional freshman dorms it would be a 20 minute walk, but students ride the city buses for free which makes getting there easy. Below are some of the more popular places to eat. They’re all on South Main St., very near one another.

The downtown area is closest to the Quad on the original campus. The new side of campus(East Campus) has a bunch of chain restaurants and shopping centers within walking distance also, but everything is easier with a car.

Walmart, Target and Costco are very near East Campus as well.
