does anyone know when transfer admissions come out? the applications were sent in around march, early march and people are saying around april first.. does anyone know an exact date? thanks so much!

Does anyone know the % of applicants vs. admits for JMU transfer students?

anyone know?

I’m a fall 2012 transfer who sent in the application on March 1st. Just got an email 15 minutes ago regarding my preliminary financial aid.

“Congratulations on being admitted to James Madison University!” is the first line so I guess this is pretty much an acceptance letter too.

congratulations! might i ask what your transfer gpa was, are you a freshman, and other stats of the like?

Did all transfer decisions come out today?

i don’t believe they’ve all come out yet elonmom, only because i go to JMU and on the facebook page a lot of students with prospectively transferring friends have yet to hear from JMU. apparently the deadline for notifications however is april 1st, but i don’t know if that is really true or not. hopefully it is! the suspense is painful…

Thanks so much Makay5! I am on pins and needles - have one child wanting to transfer with an Assoc. degree to JMU and another child graduating and appling to colleges for the first time. I am going gray really fast!

Thanks. I’m a sophomore transferring from NVCC with an associates degree in Business to JMU’s business school. GPA at NVCC 3.5, High School GPA 3.0, SAT 1770.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that JMU has finalized all the decisions and now it’s a matter of mailing them out. They said Mid-April at the latest, but the undergrad admissions lady said they should ideally have them out in a week.

My S is a summer transfer and received his notification in Feb (pretty quick).
On advise of a CC advisor, we went and talked to JMU admissions. JMU admission places a transfer with an GAA Associates (3.0+) ahead of freshmen with a 4.0+ GPA.

I still have not heard anything from them. Has anyone else found out yet?

Bennybenben: No I have not found out anything.

What I’ve heard though is a lot of students who applied under the GAA (with VCCS associates degrees) have already heard back. I however am currently a freshmen at a VCCS awaiting a reply. I have heard from a source that works at JMU, however, that they have had a lot of freshman/transfer students choose schools other than JMU, therefore they are in the process of accepting more students. Hope this helps, the wait is killing me just as much as everyone else!

Is anyone on this discussion board currently a freshmen at another college? I am currently a freshmen at a VCCS. JMU was my dream school, but sadly I was deferred as a freshmen applicant. I really have no idea what my chances are but I’m hoping for some good news! I am just curious to see if anyone else is transferring without prior having an associates degree.

I just spoke to the admissions lady, im a freshman at odu applying to transfer for the fall. She said some have been sent out and may be posted later today. just keep your eye on it and check your mail today. If not, it should be any day now. good luck.

My S (accepted as a VCCS grad) , did not get accepted as a freshman transfer from VCCS despite an excellent GPA. If its your dream school, then don’t give up.

Thanks for the useful information LXABro. I surely hope so. Any news at this point would be helpful.

And to BadDad, was your son a regular freshman applicant? I have enough credits to be considered a sophomore, that’s why I’m hoping my case may be a little different. If I’m not accepted this round, I will def be a JMU student in spring 2013 because I’ll my associates by then. I just hope to get accepted in the fall since I think the transfer process will be a lot smoother in the fall then transferring in the Spring though.

Freshman: Not Accepted
He had enough credits to be a sophomore: Not Accepted
VCCS graduate (spring 2012/summer admit): Accepted.
When we met w/ JMU admissions last fall, they told him VCCS graduates are the top of their list. Have you talked 1-on-1 with an admission person? It was helpful for us.

When getting your decision does it show up online, by email, or through mail first? I would like to know what I should be looking out for! thanks and good luck to everyone !

The website still says that decisions will go out late April but I know they usually send them early! Could be any day now, I’m so nervous! I’m a freshman at VCU hoping to transfer In the fall. I had a 4.0 this year at VCU so I’m hoping that will secure my spot but I read they don’t accept many freshman applicants I had a 3.0 unweighted GPA in high school but took many AP and IB classes! And I had a ton of leadership and service. I wanted to go to VT out of high school and got denied so I’m hoping that doesn’t happen again! JMU has become my dream school! What do you think my chances are anyone? And to the previous person, they use to send all decisions out by postal mail, but now with the MyMadison system online I’m not sure what to expect, I’m sure they will send out letters regardless but it may show up on your mymadison account first! Good luck everyone! I hope we all become Dukes together!
