JMU Transfer Admissions

has anyone heard anything yet?

Not yet, pinkbailey! What are the chances of not being admitted as a transfer student if you are just graduating from a Virginia Community College with an Associates degree?

Elonmom16 - I’m actually applying with only my associates as I do not qualify for GAA. Ive gotten the impression, talking to numerous college admission advisors (including JMU), that it’s a big plus for applicants to have their associates as it shows a person has completed most of their gen-eds and also shows they can finish something that they start. Obviously there are many other things that factor into the process but having your transcripts say you graduated is definitely a bonus.

That being said, anyone want to guess as to when decisions come out? My money’s on Thursday.

I was accepted tonight. I have a 3.81 GPA at GMU as a Freshman. My guess is that the rest would be coming out this week as well. Good luck to everyone!

Just got admitted this morning. Just to give people that might be in my situation some hope here are my stats:
Longwood University:
2008-2010
GPA 2.1

NOVA
2010-2012
AS Business Administration
GPA: 3.75

I’d like to think it’s never too late to start over. Good luck to everyone else.

Gosh, I am on pins and needles! Are they not sending out the admittance decisions all at once?

I got wait listed, which is what I was expecting due to the fact I had to take a developmental math first semester. Does anyone know how hard it is to get off the waiting list as a transfer student? & congrats to all who got in!

hy2731, when were you notified?

I got an email at 11:30 this morning telling me my decision had been posted.

Thanks, they must be sending them out randomly. Good luck on getting off the wait list!

I found out today that I was placed on the wait list. I’m a freshman at CNU and got a 3.87 last semester, and was involved with an honors program. I did sports in high school with a leadership position and was involved in Young Democrats and NHS. I sent in a great letter of recommendation.

I called today and they told me the wait list for freshmen and transfers are two separate entities. I’m wondering if this betters my chances for admission?

From what I’ve read transfers actually have a pretty good chance of coming off the wait list if their grades are good. I to hope to be off the waiting list! I just HATE having to wait even longer!

Ugh, just have to get this second semester chem grade up now!

I wonder if they are mixing up the notifications? They aren’t sending out admits first, then wait list then declines are they???

Well, we found out that my S has been waitlisted. :frowning: Any thoughts on the chances of being admitted off the waitlist? How long after May 1 will they start admitting?

Was just wondering if any waitlisted students have heard anything yet? Nothing yet here.

I’m waitlisted, they said you can hear as late as August 1st, but that’s an extreme. Early June is when most decisions will be heard.

Yeah still wait listed they told me to send in my spring grades…

2008-2009
VCU 1.9

2010-2012
NVCC 2.95
Associates Biology

sort of sad because GMU said because of VCU’s gpa i couldn’t go there so all other schools rejected me and now my last hope is JMU other than that it’s nothing else…

Today was a great day! My S got a call with an offer of admissions off of the waitlist! He is so happy, he graduated from Community College on Saturday and now knows his plans for the fall. Hang in there guys, hopefully you all will get that call soon, good luck!

Check yesterday admissions denied found a letter in the mail stating the same… i guess there are no second chances when it comes to life and academics
