JMU v Tech

I know there are many forums on this topic but a lot of them are put of date.
So I’ve been accepted into both of the business schools but I have no idea which one I want to go to. I would be going to JMU for accounting and Tech for accounting and information systems. Aside from the rankings what makes JMU better than Tech? If you had this same problem, what helped/made you choose your school?

I can only provide what I, as a parent, have seen from my kids. DS1 went to VT for Engineering and graduated May 2015, my DS2 is going to JMU for Geology & Environmental Science. One differences I have noticed is the level and engagement of professors. At JMU, the classes are almost always taught by professors, not TAs. The professors are primarily there to teach not perform research, etc. so they have been more helpful and engaged in my DS2 success and really try to get to know the students. This could be a difference between the majors however (ie: Engineering vs Geology) Also, I find the cost of books at JMU to be less expensive given the majority are not written by JMU professors and only sold through the bookstore. Lastly, there is just no comparison between JMU and VT when it comes to school spirit surrounding sports, if that is important to you, it is VT all the way. I was one of the first classes graduating from VT in AIS back in the dark ages and I can say it has served me well and I did and still love VT. Good news is there is not a wrong or best answer. Congratulations on having 2 great choices. You can message me with any specific questions.

You do have two great choices. As an international student, VT is more nationally known by a long shot. Some have never even heard of JMU. As I understand that professor engagement is a plus, at the end a degree from VT would stick out more nationally, or internationally with some business companies for better opportunities. Good luck and congratulations on both schools.
