I'm a junior in high school really looking at James Madison and the university of South Carolina. Which school is best based on overall experience- academics, campus, opportunities, local surroundings, etc?

Anybody?? Please :)

Where are you from? What major? How much can you afford? Urban or Rural setting?

I’m from virginia. I know I could get into both, and I can pay for either because I would get in-state tuition at USC. I plan on studying international relations. But I’m not sure if I care about rural or urban.

I’m almost 100% positive USC doesn’t have in-state tuition. That’s only for state/public schools. Its a full 50K per year.

University of south Carolina is public… I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

Virginia gets in-state at South Carolina?

the op is talking about south carolina not southern california. I was accepted to JMU with the same major this past year and I had the oppurtunity of visiting the campus once. Harrisonburg Virginia is a nice small town in the valley and the campus at JMU was beautiful. The academics seem to be very good there and everyone I saw on campus looked pretty happy. The weather when i went to visit was nice and everyone seemed to have school spirit probably not as much as a big athletic school like south carolina. i didnt really spend much time around the town so i dont know about the surrounding life but they said theres alot to do on campus and always parties. The oos tuition was very reasonable so i would imagine its a steal for you since your instate. It was a good school but i did not end up choosing to attend.

Thanks for the input!

@MisterK-- not everyone from Va gets in-state at USC, but I would qualify for scholarships that automatically give you in-state.

no problem if you have any more questions about jmu or any other schools you are interested in just pm me.
