JMU vs Virginia Tech

My d is a senior this is year in a top public HS in NJ. Her 1st and 2nd choices are JMU and VT respectively. I know that admissions have become so competitive and just wondering what her chances might be. She has the following:

GPA 3.8
ACT 26
SAT 1770/2400
AP and honors courses in Jr and Sr year
Consistently involved in same 3 EC's through HS and some community service hours. Has worked same job working with children since her sophmore year. Wants to major in Education.

Feedback is appreciated!

I’m not familiar with JMU, but here’s a breakdown of the statistics of the VT applicants offered admissions for 2010:

Specific majors will have somewhat different profiles. Here’s a link to the VT Institutional Research department with spreadsheets showing more specifics for 2009 and earlier years:

Good luck to your daughter - VT is a great school.

Shes definitely in for JMU if she has extracurricular activities on her application, Vt is honeslty a toss up, i hope she gets in. They are BOTH great schools
