Job experience--That important?

So it is now my summer year between junior and senior year and I have never had a job. I've always been too busy during the school year, with school not getting out until 4pm and then sports practice until 5:30 every day, and during the summers I've not been able to because I consantly go back and forth between where my Mom and Dad live (500+ miles away..)

I've had various unpaid positions, camp counselor etc, but I've never had a honest paying job. Is it really that important for college admissions? Especially if I plan on applying for financial aid?

you should for sure get a job because in my experience people will hire people with experience over those without it

It can be pretty important but everyone is different and breach towards different areas. The "various unpaid positions" are fine.

it's not critical, if you can find something else that's more interesting or will look better on your application then by all means go for it. it does look good but you can probably find something better to do if you look

(take classes, do research...)

Kicharo: Don't ever think about getting a job in that manner. If you are busy doing things such as volunteering, taking various classes, or participating in research during the summer, there is absolutely no need for you to get a job (unless you need the money). However, if you are going to be sitting home all day playing video games or watching TV, it might be a wise idea to get a job.

In short, colleges like to see that you are keeping yourself busy and productive during the summer. If your schedule is already packed, don't worry about getting a job.
