Hey everyone! This will be my second year at UF, and I'm trying to find a job or paid internship so my parents don't have to pay EVERYTHING. I'm looking for part-time, but I wasn't offered a Work Study. I have a good GPA/am involved around campus, but I'm having trouble finding anything. I'm trying to stay away from fast food and jobs of that nature, and was wondering if you guys had any ideas/suggestions on places to look for work. Thanks!!

The only way, really, to be totally self-supporting in college, in my opinion, is to be a Waiter/bartender. Even at a crappy place, you can make 70$ a day, work 3 shifts a week at 5-6-7 hours a shift, giving you around 1000$ a month, after paychecks. Try finding another job that pays even close to that, with that amount of hours, let alone in a college town.

I know some people have these personal taboos about waiting tables or stuff of that nature, but it is a temporary occupation that should not be overlooked in time of need.

I believe they are sponsoring, or involved, in a part-time job fair August 28th on campus. It may be worth looking into. I'm sure it'll be advertised a lot when you get up there.
