I just got called in for a job interview next week on campus! I applied yesterday night and got a call this morning...

I never had a job before or anything, and I only went to mock interviews. Any tips?

Also, how should I dress? I have dress clothes (shirt, jacket, pants, shoes) but I don't want to overdress. Or does it not really matter since its on campus work-study?

On campus work study jobs can be quite competitive, so definitely look nice but don’t be pretentious and wear a suit or anything. Just something that shows you are serious about working.

Send a thank you note afterwards, ask questions, make them smile. Got me multiple jobs. :)

I’m thinking a white dress shirt/dress pants/tie/belt and dress shoes… lol. Is that too much? Hmm.

Also, one question: My CS class is holding a job fair next month with Microsoft/Google reps coming. If I were to get an internship or something with them, can I quit my on campus job?

Standard apparel for me is just solid white shirt + simple striped tie + black slacks

Come in prepared with knowledge of the position you’re interviewing for and of the company/department in question. Ask smart questions. Base your responses to their questions on concrete evidence of your experiences/accomplishments. Be confident (do this by having a mock interview with yourself and think of questions you’ll be asked). Conduct yourself professionally and don’t make any jokes since they may come across as inappropriate. Blah blah blah.
