Job or Gradschool?

I'm going to have a BS in Applied mathematics with roughly a 3.9 gpa. I have almost no work experience except tutoring math and physics. Do I have better chances of getting into gradschool or getting a job?

Don’t go to grad school unless you have some goal, ie. some kind of job that requires you to have a graduate degree. Otherwise, you’ll just be two years older, and you’ll be just as (un)employable as with your bachelors. A lot of firms don’t see a master’s degree as being better than a bachelor’s, especially if you didn’t gain some work experience first.

But I’m not sure if I’m able to get a good job, or any job for that matter, in this horrible recession. I don’t really have any work experience. At least in grad school I can occupy my time with internships and research. That why I’m asking if my lack of experience will screw me.

I agree with post # 2 with one minor comment. The one reason that you might want to go to grad school is because of the present economy. If you spend two years in getting a master degree, I can see the benefit not in the degree itself but rather a better job market at that time.
