Job Placement for Lehigh grads

I have heard that job placement is good for Lehigh, and that accounting and finance majors are heavily recruited by Big Four auditors. Does anyone know more about this? Should I consider Lehigh as a top choice if I plan to major in accounting/finance?

.."Traditionally, Lehigh students seeking employment in the financial sector have better than a 99 percent placement rate six months after graduation, regardless of whether they were enrolled in Lehigh business school or its two other undergraduate colleges.

“Lehigh’s alumni base is especially strong in business, and that’s reflected in the success of the Wall Street Council,” says Goldfeder. “On a cold and rainy Saturday morning, nearly 175 students packed Perella Auditorium just to have the opportunity to get to know our alumni a little more closely.”

“The Wall Street Council provides such an incredibly important network for students interested in finance,” she added. “And it’s a network they’ll be cultivating for years to come.”

thanks!!

anyone else?

As a Lehigh undergrad, I can provide some insight. Basically, I'll tell it to you like it is.

First off, yes you will get a job. The quality of the job is up to you.

Accounting:
If you choose accounting, you will essentially be handed a top accounting job with a big 4 accounting firm or any other firm you choose. If you maintain a 3.2 or higher and you show interest and you are a decent candidate, then you are guaranteed a great job that is "recession proof". Professors and Lehigh Career Services have A LOT of contacts and I have even heard of students getting jobs with 2.2 GPA's because someone at Lehigh made a phone call. Lehigh is ranked #1 for Accounting, by the way.

Finance:
The economy sucks. Getting jobs on Wall Street has gotten tough. I expected Wall Street job postings on our Career Services website to be non-existent, but I was pleasantly surprised to see top investment banks/firms still recruiting a good amount for all kinds of top jobs/internships. The days when a History major deciding to break into investment banking on a whim in their senior year is gone. You have to be focused and you have to work hard from the beginning. Lehigh, despite being ranked a little lower than other business schools, provides a top notch education. How you decide to apply what you know to make the most of your opportunities is up to you as a student.

As for other majors:
Finance and Accounting are the two main majors. We have everything else that you can think of, but generally students double major with either Finance or Accounting as their primary with something like Marketing as their secondary major. You can get jobs in Marketing or Management, but Lehigh is more focused on Finance/Accounting careers.
