Job Placement

(This is a long thread, sorry! My actual questions are the last two lines.)

I am currently an engineering student at Purdue University. I am from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but I was not admitted to the U of M's LS&A program. I will complete my first semester of school this December. My parents, who are paying my tuition, want me to apply to the U of M again, and possibly transfer.
I plan on applying to the U of M, and then make a decision to transfer or not over the summer. I have been weighing the reasons to stay at Purdue or transfer to U of M (assuming I get accepted).
My reasons to transfer are fairly obvious. The biggest reason is in-state tuition versus out-of-state tuition. Being close to home is convenient, but I am not the kind of person that needs to be home all the time.
The factors holding me at Purdue are fairly stupid. Both programs are ranked #8, so the program's strength doesn't make a real difference. I have established a good group of friends, I love the parties (U of M's aren't that great), but recently I heard something that would be significant enough to make me stay.
My friends were discussing how Purdue has a much higher job placement percentage than U of M. I personally consider job placement a very important factor, considering the purpose of college is to get a job.

Does Purdue provide its students with a better chance to get a job than the U of M?
Are there statistics to support your response?

Here is some placement info:
» Purdue University: 448 organizations recruited on campus last year, 71% of graduating class had full-time job offers within six months of graduation.
» University of Michigan: 1481 organizations recruited on campus last year, 76% of graduating class had full-time job offers within six months of graduation.

Keep in mind this data is for all students attending these schools (not just engineering students). For more info visit www.xap.com.
