Job Placement!

Hi, i’m planning to attend BC CSOM this fall and i was just wondering how the job placement will be in the finance sector?

Thank you :D

It’ll be tough to get a job, but not due to a lack of opportunities at BC. I have quite a few friends who do not have summer internships, myself included. Many companies in the finance sector are downsizing and hence a lower need of internships/jobs. Big investment banks and other financial firms have increasingly hired less students, where before several students may have obtained an internship to now where they only scout out a couple of students.

Getting a job no matter where you’re attending school is tough in this economic environment. The good news however, is that CSOM is currently ranked #9 by BusinessWeek. That means you have a very competitive edge just by being enrolled at teh #9 business school. Don’t waste the advantage.

BC’s career services department are is also very helpful. They will assist you in getting an internship and upon graduation, a job. Good luck.

My advice to any BC students based on what has worked for me is to start networking and start networking early. Go on agora and get in touch with some BC alums who work in your desired industry now. Just e-mail them, introduce yourself, ask for information about their job. Then when you need to start hitting people up to look for jobs you will have connections and people who know you and can tell you are motivated. Eagles LOVE to help out other Eagles.
