Job prospects for a Florida Institute of Technology civil engineering grad with a 2.6

GPA?

Poor GPA and low-tier engineering school--what job prospects are there? And is grad school even a viable possibility?

Error on that GPA: It's a 2.9.

In civil engineering, does the GPA matter more than the college attended?

Experience outweighs either. Any internships or summer jobs?

I didn't realize they were so important. His school did help him get into a couple of internships over the past 2 summers, I vaguely recall hearing about. He graduates this month but I don't think has any firm job offers as yet. I guess time will tell!

Is that the major GPA, or overall? Can you list both?

I'm sure he will prosper. Engineering is a great field to be in.

so he did 2 internships and what happened to those firms?

I'm just not familiar enough with the situation to know, given that what I heard was just mentioned briefly at a holiday get-together. I noticed this category on CC and thought I would ask about the situation from you folks with experience, but I don't feel comfortable asking the family any questions right now.

Most engineers find a job somewhere, particularly civs. It's not going to be spectacularly exciting at first, likely, but they'll probably get something, at least.

Thank you all for your answers.
I'm a bit embarrassed that I posted and named the college, so if anyone else has any suggestions, please just PM me if you would. I really would like this question to recede into the background! As it turns out, while the college is 3rd tier, so is the student-- academically-- I suppose, although a pretty good person --however, I would never let on to his family.

Many thanks.

Employable. He'll look for a job for awhile, especially in this economy.
